Warsaw Cup

Warsaw Cup 2020, the third Challenger Series event of the season, takes place Nov. 13-15 at the COS Torwar II Hall in Warsaw, Poland. No spectators will be permitted to attend. There are currently no Russian skaters scheduled to compete. No pairs or ice dance competitions will take place and there will be no exhibition gala.

The competition boasts solid line-ups in the two disciplines with 33 skaters currently registered to compete: 12 men and 21 ladies. The competition will open with the men′s short program on Nov. 13.

Six French skaters/teams are noted in the line ups — including Kévin Aymoz — but with the new lockdown in France in effect, it is not confirmed at this time that they will make the trip to Poland. The French team withdrew from Ice Star in Belarus in late October.

Hometown girl Ekaterina Kurakova, who is coached by Brian Orser and his team in Toronto, Canada, will make her season debut. Unable to return to her training base since March, the 18-year-old turned to French choreographer Benoît Richaud over the summer to choreograph her new programs. In mid-October she went to Italy for two weeks to train with Lorenzo Magri, the coach of Daniel Grassl and Matteo Rizzo. Grassl is also slated to compete in Warsaw.
