Skate Canada

The Series moves north of the border for the second event, Skate Canada International, which takes place in Mississauga, Ontario, Oct. 28-30.

Japan′s Shoma Uno, the 2022 Olympic bronze medalist, headlines a strong men′s field with Canada′s Keegan Messing, Camden Pulkinen of the U.S. and Latvia′s Deniss Vasiljevs all ready to battle it out for top honors. Boyang Jin of China was slated to compete at this event, but has withdrawn from both Grand Prix assignments.

South Korea′s Young You will be aiming for the top step of the podium, following on the heels of her silver-medal finish at the 2022 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic. Rika Kihira of Japan is scheduled to make a return to competition after being sidelined last season with a foot injury. 

The popular Japanese duo, Rika Mkiura and Ryuichi Kihara, the 2022 World silver medalists, will be in a class of their own in the pairs event. Other potential podium contenders include Germany′s Alisa Efimova and Rueben Blommaert, Brooke Macintosh and Benjamin Mimar of Canada and  Emily Chan and Spencer Howe of the U.S.

Canada′s Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier headline the ice dance event, with their main challengers being Great Britain′s Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson. On the heels of a bronze-medal finish at Skate America and the withdrawal of a young Canadian team, Canada′s newest ice dance duo, Marie-Jade Lauriault and Romain Le Gac, were assigned to this event on Oct. 24.

Elvis Stojko has been named the Event Ambassador and Nam Nguyen will serve as In-Venue Host. 

Ted Barton will host the commentary for the CBC Gem and the Skate Canada website live streams, along with Kevin Reynolds, Kaetlyn Osmond and Kaitlyn Weaver. Mark Hanretty will call all the action on the ISU live stream.

NBC will air highlights from the competition on its main network on Oct. 30 from 12-1:30 p.m. For specialty channels in the United States such as Peacock, USA Network and E! check the online or local listings.
