The 2022-2023 ISU World Standings were published on June 17. Some of the skaters/teams that have already announced their respective retirements are not included in the lists, but two pairs teams that have retired, Ashley Cain/Timothy LeDuc (7th) and Miriam Ziegler/Severin Kiefer (15th), are still listed for some unknown reason. Also, the Spanish pairs team (18) is currently sidelined due to a doping violation.
Points are calculated by the results of skaters/teams at competitions during the current season, plus 70 percent of the points earned in the previous season.
With Russian and Belarusian skaters banned from competing at ISU competitions in 2022, they will drop out of the top spots in the standings once the season gets underway. This situation will also adjust the rankings for which skaters/teams are eligible for Grand Prix assignments this year.
Yuma Kagiyama heads into the new season ranked first, ahead of Nathan Chen and Shoma Uno. Jason Brown is fifth and Yuzuru Hanyu 14th. Top 12 are guaranteed two Grand Prix assignments.
Kagiyama is ranked higher than Chen due to Kagiyama′s victory at the Asian Open Trophy (for which he earned 250 points). That gave him the edge over Chen, who did not compete at any senior B or Challenger Series events in 2021. Kagiyama earned a combined point total of 2,886 points for the 2020-2021/2021-2022 seasons, while Chen earned 2,764.
Anna Shcherbakova holds the top spot in the women′s field, ahead of Kaori Sakamoto and Loena Hendrickx. Top 12 are guaranteed two Grand Prix assignments.
In pairs, Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov rank first, with Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov in second, ahead of Wenjing Sui/Cong Han. (Note: (8) Audrey Lu has retired and Misha Mitrofanov is now skating with a new partner; (13) Nicole Della Monica has retired but Matteo Guarise plans to continue competing). Top 10 are guaranteed two Grand Prix assignments.
Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov hold the top spot in ice dance; Charlène Guignard/Marco Fabbri rank second and Madison Chock/Evan Bates are third. Top 10 are guaranteed two Grand Prix assignments.
