2018 Autumn Classic InternationalAutumn Classic

2018 Autumn Classic International takes place in Oakville, Ontario, Canada Sep. 20-22. The line-ups in all disciplines are impressive.

Yuzuru Hanyu will open the new season on adopted home soil. He will be joined by his training mates Evgenia Medvedeva, Jason Brown and Jun-Hwan Cha. It will be an easy hike for the trio — the venue for this competition is half an hour from their training base at the Toronto Cricket Club.

The ladies line-up also includes Japan’s Wakaba Higuchi and Yura Matsuda, and Starr Andrews and Bradie Tennell from the U.S. Australia’s Kailani Craine and Brooklee Han are in a battle this season for the lone spot at the 2019 World Championships. Han is on the last lap of her competitive career and would no doubt like to end it in Saitama.

French pairs champions Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès of France, who won this event in 2017, will make their third consecutive appearance at this competition. They should capture the title without any major challenge.

Canada’s Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje headline the ice dance event. This will be their only competitive outing in the first half of the current season. The duo will not compete in the Grand Prix Series but plan to return to competition in January 2019 for the national championships in a bid to make the teams for Four Continents and Worlds.

With Hanyu competing, finding a ticket will be the biggest challenge. His Japanese fans will be lined up overnight to get the best seats in the non-reserved arena.

UPDATE: Skate Canada has advised that the live stream for this event will be available worldwide this year.
