NEWS FLASH! The ISU announced on Sep. 16 that the Junior Grand Prix event scheduled for Armenia will not take place as planned due to the conflict between that nation and Azerbaijan over disputed territory. Read the press release HERE.
The 2022 Junior Grand Prix Series gets underway in Courchevel, France, Aug. 24. The Croatian Figure Skating Federation was initially scheduled to host the fifth event in Zagreb, but withdrew its bid citing logistical reasons. The Fédération Française des Sports de Glace was originally scheduled to host two events, but that second competition has now been reassigned to Gdańsk, Poland, which will hold back-to-back events.
As a consequence of the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Latvia have ceased issuing visas to Russian or Belarusian citizens. It is unclear how that will impact skaters from those nations that represent other countries but do not hold citizenship, and skaters from other nations who are coached by citizens of those two nations that do not currently hold valid visas.
The schedule and entries for six of the seven events have been published. Click on the highlighted links below for all the information related to each competition.
Ted Barton will provide the commentary along with co-host Mark Hanretty.
