The 2021 Challenge Cup will take place in The Hague, Feb. 25-28. This is the final opportunity for skaters to earn the required minimum technical scores to compete at the 2021 World Championships. This year, a senior ice dance competition has been added to the roster. This competition takes place in the same time frame as the Russian Cup Final (link below).
For the senior events, there are currently 17 men, 19 ladies, 11 pairs and 3 ice dance teams registered. Entries include Loena Hendrickx, Maé-Bérénice Méité, Mikhail Kolyada, Morisi Kvitelashvili, Deniss Vasiljevs and Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov. French champion Kévin Aymoz was scheduled to compete but he withdrew from this event as well as the one in Estonia, which took place Feb. 20-21.
Unlike any other season, there were only two designated competitions in 2020 to earn qualifying scores (Nebelhorn Trophy and Budapest Trophy). The 2020-21 ISU season best total scores/standings are published HERE.
The draw for starting orders for the short program/rhythm dance will be held virtually on Wed., Feb. 24. The free skate start orders will be the reverse of the results of the short program/rhythm dance.
The 2021 Challenge Cup will be live streamed for a fee. A day pass costs 5.00 euros and 15.00 euros for the entire competition. Passes are available HERE.
