2016-17 All Events Schedule: The complete list of all the International Skating Union competitions for novice, junior and senior levels for the 2016-2017 season, with dates and locations.
The Lake Placid Ice Dance Invitational and the 2016 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy are the first two events this season. The Asian Open competition takes place in Manila, Philippines in early August.
Many new faces and rising stars will grace the seven stages of the Junior Grand Prix Series this season. The Series opens in St. Gervais, France, Aug. 24, with Ljubljana, Slovakia hosting the second.
Its senior counterpart maintains the regular order of events this season with Skate America being the first and NHK Trophy closing out the six-event Series. Canada’s Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir have returned to the competitive arena, which will cause a shake-up in the ice dance ranks. The decorated duo will be in the hunt for a second Olympic gold two years from now.
The Challenger Series begins in early September with Lombardia Trophy in Italy, followed by the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic a week later.
Finland will host the 2017 World Championships for the first time since 1999. The competition will take place once again in Helsinki.
