Sinead Kerr married Grant Marshall on July 31, 2016, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The ceremony and reception took place at the 13th-century Dalhousie Castle. Sinead’s brother, John, was the best man and his wife, Nadine, the matron of honor.
Marshall is a former NHL player and was a member of two Stanley Cup winning teams: the Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils. The couple met when they were paired on the Canadian reality television show “Battle of the Blades” in 2013.
Claudia Ah-nien, who designed Kerr’s wedding gown, also crafted the costumes Kerr and her brother John wore during their competitive career. Marshall, a former National Hockey League player, won two Stanley Cups with the Dallas Stars and the New Jersey Devils. Kerr and Marshall both work at skating rinks in the New Jersey area.
Sinead teamed up with her brother John Kerr in 2000. The duo are two-time (2009, 2011) European bronze medalists and the 2004–2010 British national champions. They were the first British ice dancers to make the top 10 at the European Championships since Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
They placed 10th at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy, and eighth at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
The siblings retired from competitive skating in April 2011.
