IFS June 2021

The IFS June 2021 issue features extended coverage of the 2021 World Championships. With the results of the 2021 World Championships determining Olympic berths for 2022, the competition was fierce in all disciplines. Russia’s Anna Shcherbakova continued her season-long golden run when she claimed the ladies title in her debut at the competition. Stockholm also proved to be a lucky place for Nathan Chen of the U.S. who captured his third consecutive title.

It has been the trickiest dance of all for the French team of Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, navigating the many challenges produced by a once in a lifetime pandemic. The duo opted not to compete this season for various reasons, which they talk about in this exclusive interview.

The career of Czech star Michal Březina began at a small junior competition in Slovakia in 2003, but he will likely call an end to his 18-year journey on the biggest stage of them all at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China.

We take you for a walk down memory lane with our gallery of former stars who ruled the world over the past few decades.

After missing the 2021 U.S. Championships, Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko decided it was time for a change. The duo opted to move north of the border to train with two-time Olympic ice dance champion Scott Moir.

After a career that spanned two decades with three different partners, Chinese pairs skater Hao Zhang has officially retired from competitive skating. But he remains involved with the sport, inspiring new generations to chase their dreams.

Competition recaps: The highs and lows in Stockholm with Rika Kihira, Han Yan, Loena Hendrickx, Madeline Schizas, Vincent Zhou, Alexei Bychenko, Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro, Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson and Shoma Uno.
