So much has changed in the world of figure skating the past 25 years. Champions have come and gone…some have remained connected to the sport, while others have stepped away and moved on to new careers. Figure skating has been constantly evolving over the past quarter century, with ongoing changes to the rules, the judging system and the individual disciplines as the International Skating Union continues to move forward to keep the sport current and most importantly, totally inclusive.
Our feature story this issue is a 10-page special look at skaters from the past 25 years and updates on their lives and careers. Though we attempted to track down and get as much information on as many skaters as we could, it was not possible to locate some of them. As much as we would have loved to have cover more, space restrictions were also taken into account.
But, we hope you enjoy catching up with the many skaters we have covered in this issue.
Patrick Chan said his transition out of competitive skating has had its moments over the past year, but overall he is happy and adjusting to and embracing his new freedom.
Anjelika Krylova moved back to her native Russia after living in the U.S. for decades. It was a major transition for the coach and choreographer but more so for her children who were born and raised in the U.S.
Kaetlyn Osmond told us she has no regrets about leaving the competitive ranks and is looking forward to the next chapter of her life with a lot of enthusiasm and positivity.
