2022 Warsaw Cup – Poland

The penultimate event of the 2022 Challenger Series takes place in Warsaw, Poland, Nov. 17-20. All four disciplines will be contested and attendance is free to all spectators.

A total of 55 singles skaters, 14 pairs and 11 ice dance teams will make for long days of competition.

Italy′s Daniel Grassl, the victor at the MK John Wilson Trophy last weekend, headlines the men′s field. This will be the first international of the season Kévin Aymoz of France after he was forced to withdraw from both Grand Prix assignments due to an injury he sustained at French Masters in early October.

The ladies event is wide open with Poland′s Ekaterina Kurakova and Nicole Schott of Germany leading the way.

Top picks for the podium in the pairs event would be Australia′s Anastasia Golubeva and Hektor Giatopolous Moore, the top-ranked team on the Junior circuit this season, and Rebecca Ghilardi and Filippo Ambrosini of Italy, who won their first Challenger Series event in Lake Placid and finished fourth at the French Grand Prix.

In ice dance, the battle for gold will likely be between the French team of Voice Demougeot and Theo Le Mercier, fourth at the Grand Prix in France, and Jennifer Janse Van Rensburg and Benjamin Steffan of Germany who finished second at the 2022 Denis Ten Memorial.

This competition overlaps with the Grand Prix NHK Trophy (link below).
