2022 U.S. Championships

The 2022 U.S. Championships (junior and senior) will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, Jan. 3–9. Team selections for the 2022 Four Continents Championships, Olympic Winter Games and World Championships will be determined at the conclusion of the senior competitions.

Skaters — other than those with a bye — earned a place at the Championships via a series of eight qualifying competitions (the 2022 U.S. Figure Skating Championship Series) which took place during the fall of 2021.

A total of 16 women, 18 men, 12 pairs and 15 ice dance teams are slated to compete in Nashville. Isabeau Levito, Lindsay Thorngren, Ilia Malinin Katrina Wolfkostin and Jeffrey Chen, who all qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final, will be competing in the senior events. Gracie Gold is headed to her ninth U.S. Championships after winning the qualifying competition in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Withdrawals:
Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier were forced to withdraw on the eve of the Championships after Frazier tested positive for COVID-19 in Nashville. Chelsea Liu and Danny O’Shea withdrew from the pairs event on Nov. 27. Liu suffered a concussion at the Challenger Series event Warsaw Cup and is still recovering. Bradie Tennell withdrew from the competition on Dec. 31 due to a foot injury that has yet to be diagnosed. On Jan. 7, Alysa Liu, third after the short program, and Amber Glenn withdrew following positive tests for COVID-19.

Avonley Nguyen, the 2020 World Junior ice dance champion, and her new partner Grigory Smirnov, who formerly represented Russia, were scheduled to make their debut at this competition but have withdrawn. Nguyen reported her partner is experiencing hip pain.

Todd Eldredge, the coach of Yaroslav Paniot, has also tested positive.

The senior Championships get underway on Jan. 6 with the pairs and women′s short programs.
