2022 Golden Spin of Zagreb

Golden Spin of Zagreb, the final event of the 2022 Challenger Series, takes place Dec. 6–10 with some
top names in the line ups. All four disciplines will be contested.

The line-ups for the men′s and pairs disciplines are not finalized at this time. Ilia Malinin, the Italian pairs team of Rebecca Ghilardi and Filippo Ambrosini and Emily Chana and Spencer Akira Howe of the U.S. are still listed, but they will all be heading to the Grand Prix Final.

Italy′s Matteo Rizzo and Camden Pulkinen of the U.S. headline the men’s field. Also in the line-up is Ukraine′s Andrii Kokura, whose full-length feature film, “Pokut (“Penance”), debuted at the Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival in Hamburg, Germany on Oct. 1.

There are currently 32 women slated to compete in Zagreb. The battle for the three steps of the podium will likely be between Canada’s Madeline Schizas, Nicole Schott of Germany and two Americans, Ava Marie Ziegler and Lindsay Thorngren. No Japanese women have been assigned to this event.

In pairs, the German team of Alisa Efimova and Ruben Blommaert, silver medalists at the Grand Prix in Espoo, will be the team to beat. Two American duos will also be in the hunt for a podium finish: Anastasia Smirnova and Danylo Siianytsia and Ellie Nam and Danny O’Shea, who were golden in their international debut at the 2022 Ice Challenge in Graz.

The ice dance competition will be a battle with a number of teams coming off podium finishes throughout the season, which includes Georgia′s Maria Kazakova and Georgy Reviya, Jennifer Janse Van Rensburg and Benjamin Steffan of Germany and Lithuania′s Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevičius.

This competition overlaps with the Grand Prix Final (link below).
