2021 Cup of Austria by IceChallenge

The 2021 Cup of Austria by IceChallenge, the third to last event of this season′s Challenger Series, takes place Nov. 11–14 in Graz. Three disciplines will be contested.

With only a few competitions remaining before countries start holding their national championships, skaters are signing up in droves to compete at the last three events of the Series. A number of nations are also sending out their top juniors to achieve the minimum scores necessary to compete at senior Championships and, for some, to get more mileage on their programs before the Junior Grand Prix Final.

A field of 25 will contest the men′s event, which includes a number of skaters that competed on the junior circuit this season. Top juniors in the line up include Ilia Malinin of the U.S., Canada′s Corey Circelli, Arlet Levandi of Estonia and Lucas Tsuyoshi Honda, the reigning Japanese junior champion. Kévin Aymoz of France and Russia′s Mikhail Kolyada and Evgeni Semenenko have withdrawn.

A total of 35 women are scheduled to compete. Japan′s Wakaba Higuchi, fifth at Skate Canada International, will be joined by Tomoe Kawabata. Starr Andrews and Audrey Shin, who finished third at Lombardia Trophy in early September, will represent the U.S. Emily Bausback and Alison Schumacher are the Canadian entries. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva has withdrawn.

In the ice dance discipline, there are 18 teams signed up. Some of the top names include Italy′s Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri, silver medalists at Skate Canada International, Skate America bronze medalists Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sørensen of Canada, and the Spanish team of Olivia Smart and Adrián Díaz, who finished third at Skate Canada. The top American junior team of Katarina Wolfkostin and Jeffrey Chen are also slated to compete.

This competition overlaps the Grand Prix NHK Trophy.
