International Figure Skating

2019 Four Continents

The 2019 Four Continents Championships will celebrate its 20th year in Anaheim, California. This competition boasts solid line-ups with top-level skaters competing in all disciplines. A total of 69 skaters/teams are slated to take the ice, comprised of 22 ladies, 26 men, nine pairs and 12 ice dance teams. This marks the fifth time the United States has hosted this competition, starting with Salt Lake City in 2001, two consecutive years in Colorado Springs (2006-2007) and again in 2012. It is worth noting that since the inception of this competition all 20 ice dance titles have been won by teams from North America.

Japan′s Shoma Uno headlines a strong men’s field that includes Jun-Hwan Cha, Boyang Jin, Keegan Messing, Vincent Zhou and Jason Brown.

Rika Kihira, 2018 Grand Prix Final champion, and reigning Four Continents champion Kaori Sakamoto lead the ladies contingent. Bradie Tennell and Mariah Bell will be in the hunt for a podium finish. Australia’s Kailani Craine and Brooklee Han will be vying to earn the sole berth available to their nation at the World Championships.

Wenjing Sui and Cong Han are the top-ranked team in the pairs event, followed by Cheng Peng and Yang Jin, the 2018 Grand Prix Final silver medalists. Canada’s Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro and Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc — both fresh off victories at their respective national championships, will also be in the hunt for a podium finish. North Korea′s Tae-ok Ryom and Ju-Sik Kim and Australia′s Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya and Harley Windsor have withdrawn.

In ice dance, Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue lead the way. Canada′s newest team and newly-minted national bronze medalists, Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sørensen, will make their international debut skating under the maple leaf in Anaheim.
